Safety on Our Walks

All of our walks take place in the countryside and care and attention are required. This is particularly important on our challenging walks which make physical demands of our walkers in sometimes extreme conditions.  Therefore the club encourages its members to dress appropriately and to acquire navigational and survival skills to help them enjoy this activity in safety. All members should be responsible for themselves and fellow walkers and ensure their own and others safety.

To ensure that the club ethos is adhered to and that our excellent accident free record remains intact we require that you familiarise yourself with the following rules:

  1.   All walkers must be members of MI & Sligo Walking Club and be fully insured.
  2.   Children under 18 years may not become members of the club and may not participate in walks.
  3.   No alcohol permitted on club walks.
  4.   No dogs allowed on club events.
  5.   All members must carry the required kit list on all walks.

conditions may be encountered at any time of the year, sometimes with little or no warning.

For this reason we request that Cold weather clothing be kept in your rucksack for the whole of the calendar year.

Any member not complying with the Rules set out above will NOT be permitted to take part in club events.
